Guangdong LNG Terminal and Trunkline Project is one of the large-scale energy infrastructure projects included in the "10th Five-year Plan" of Guangdong province. It ranks among the ten major engineering projects of Guangdong Province and the key engineering projects of Shenzhen City. In 2005, it was officially put on the list of the key engineering projects of the State.

Guangdong LNG Terminal and Trunkline Project, which is the core of the Guangdong LNG Project, is constructed and operated by Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company Ltd. The major construction projects include a terminal which takes up a land area of around 40 hectares, and a 400km transmission trunkline which runs through 5 cities in the Pearl River Delta.

The total investment of Phase I of the LNG Terminal and Trunkline Project exceeds RMB 8 billion. The designed annual turnover capacity is 3.7 million tons of LNG. The project began its construction by the end of 2003 and after two and half years had completed a month in advance as scheduled. The first cargo of LNG had been received on May 26, 2006 and the project had been put into commercial operation by the end of September, 2006.

With the increase of trading and to ensure stable gas supply, the gasification equipments and auxiliary facilities have been added. The annual turnover capacity has increased to 6.8 million tons at present.
